Resident Rights in Long Term Care
No matter what type of long term care a person resides in in Ontario, the Bill of Rights applies and must be displayed at the home. It tells staff at the home that they must respect your rights while you live there and that they need to remember that you are in your home. Long term care residents are valued members of the community and have the right to be treated with respect and dignity. Abuse, either mental or physical, is not to be tolerated in any form.
